About

Lauren Cummings spent over a decade in leadership roles in politics and crisis communications. She worked on Capitol Hill and later on the communications teams for two U.S. secretaries of state. Lauren later transitioned to consulting, advising corporate leaders on how to navigate their toughest public challenges.

After stumbling upon a book signing for American decorator Carleton Varney, she was struck by his advice: “Happy days, happy career.” Believing that life has many chapters, Lauren decided to embrace her lifelong love for design and launch her own interior decorating business.

Lauren believes that the way we decorate our interior spaces elevates our everyday lives, imbuing them with a sense of calm and joy. Her aesthetic mixes the English Country House Style with which she grew up, with modern touches that make her rooms feel youthful and livable for today. Lauren’s work is rooted in the legacy of iconic female designers including Dorothy Draper, Nancy Lancaster, and Sister Parish. She works closely with her clients to understand their personal style, goals, and lifestyle. She creates rooms from scratch and also partners with clients looking for a refresh or help sourcing a specific piece.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Lauren attended the Bryn Mawr School for Girls and graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Government. She serves on the Advisory Council as well as the Buildings and Grounds Committee for Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens. Lauren is a member of the Alumnae Board for Bryn Mawr. She also serves on the Little Playgroup Advisory Committee. Lauren lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland with her husband.
